Wii Overtakes Xbox 360 in Global Sales

Not only did the Xbox 360 have a year-long head start, but the Nintendo still isn’t producing Wii consoles fast enough to meet demand. I still haven’t seen one on a store shelf.

Nintendo opens up game creation kit to all comers

Nintendo has released a game-creation kit allowing independent developers to develop games for its Wii console for the first time.

The firm said it will allow anyone to create and sell downloadable Wii games through its WiiWare scheme. From next year, such games will be flogged through the Wii Shop channel.

Developers can begin designing games on a PC but must complete them on the Wii.

Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo of America, said: ‘Independent developers armed with small budgets and big ideas will be able to get their original games into the marketplace to see if we can find the next smash hit.’

Iron Sudoku isnâ€™t about trying to complete puzzles quickly – itâ€™s about a bunch of people getting together every day and chatting and having fun while doing a Sudoku puzzle.

Mario Kart DS under Christmas Tree

I wish 24th of December was sooner than later…

Mario Kart DS for Nintendo DS will be under my Christmas tree this year.

The reviews are pretty exciting, the game being Nintendo “DS Game of the Month” over at IGN.

I’m personally very excited about the Online WiFi mode, enabling you to play Mario Kart DS Online wireless. Expect my Friend Code soon so we can battle Online.

A great game that promises as well and due in March 2006 is Metroid Prime Hunters. A first person shooter of the Metroid Prime franchise that can be played Online as well.

OMGMG: Online Multiplayer Google Maps Game

Tripods: An Online Multiplayer Google Maps Game. Gang up with the other players to defeat tripods.

Tripods is an online, multiplayer Google Maps. This is a beta version of the game, so it’s not perfect yet there are still some bugs and missing features but the basic gameplay works fine.

This is one of the first Online Multiplayer Games I’ve seen based on Google Maps API. There’s something into it.

Based on the Manhattan map, you and other online players have to chase aliens (tripods) and kill them using your automatic firing. But take care, as the aliens fire back.

As I was playing, there were 4 other players Online, but only one alien at a time. Hopefully Scott gets some time to polish it up. Great job anyways.

In essence, an interesting game application on top of Google Maps API. Let’s look for more of that.

Would be nice to implement a game on Google’s Map service on a mobile phone. Have to look around some more for some ideas and come up with a concept.
