Wii-mote + Bluetooth + Mac = WiiSaber

WiiSaber logo

Pair your Wii-mote with your Bluetooth-enabled Mac and swing it around to make authentic lightsaber sounds so you can finally live out your Star Wars kid Stephen Colbert fantasies.

The idea was birthed from what could only be described as a drunken orgy between a Wii-mote, a Mac, and a Star Wars geek.

The program’s creator took his existing app that uses the MacBook’s built-in tilt sensor to transform your computer into a lightsaber, and took it one step further. Coupling that functionality with the data retrieved by the recently released DarwiinRemote, WiiSaber was born.

When iPods take over the Earth

The man in the future says: “If only we’d known that iPods would unite and overthrow the very humans they entertained…”.

Highly entertaining images from the latest episode of the Simpsons.

Nokia announces the Nokia N95

Photo of Nokia's N95 mobile device

Nokia have announced the Nokia N95, featuring an innovative double slide design with multimedia controls and a keypad on opposite end of the phones. The N95 is Nokia’s first HSDPA (3.5G) device, but also boasts Wi-Fi, WCDMA, quad-band GSM, Bluetooth (including A2DP), IrDA and USB 2.0 connectivity (via mini USB connector). Other hardware features include a 5 megapixel camera, a built in GPS, TV-Out, 3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio, a MicroSD memory card slot and 150MB of internal memory. Read on for full details, pictures and the full press release.

As I’m uploading more and more images to Flickr from my N70 phone, I was having a look at the N80 with Wi-Fi support to circumvent traffic over the carriers network (no flat rate yet). What I missed on the N80 was an integrated GPS so it could keep track of the location of the shots being taken and thinner design.

I was seriously seeking for the N80 Limited Internet Edition, but after I saw this N95 coming in Q1 of 2007 I am definitely waiting for it, being a bit taller but also thinner than the N80 and N70.

I really don’t need a 5 megapixel camera, but autofocus, 150MB of internal memory, MicroSD support and bulit in GPS is really nice.

I still have to check out how it performs OS wise, as I more than often gasp with my N70 changing applictions or loading images in the Gallery.

It’s Showtime

Moblog entry

The iTunes Store is being updated… Have a look at the change in the name, it’s not the “iTunes Music Store” anymore!

This is probably due that Apple is going to announce Movie downloads as well as Music downloads.

Expect new iPods to be released as well. Regarding the iPhone, I think this won’t be happening yet.

The Videostream of the event has benn spotted but don’t expect to be it live. Probably it will be functional as soon as the event is over. The event will take place today at 10:00am Pacific time at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in downtown San Francisco.

Video of Nintendo DS Browser

Gmail and .mac services seem to work perfectly but Flash is not supported.

The video is edited so don’t trust the load times. Comments on load times nearly at the end of the footage.

Check it out.

Bluetooth Apple Mighty Mouse

My favourite mouse gets wireless…

Mighty Mouse prototype

Apple has submitted a filing with the FCC for the Bluetooth version of its single-button right-clickable mouse, the Mighty Mouse. The new mouse will be exactly the same as the current Mighty Mouse except for its wireless feature. The mouse comes with a single button that does both left-click and right-click duties. One omni-directional pointing ball in the middle allows you to scroll in any direction.

The new Mighty Mouse uses two standard AA batteries and will be compatible with OS X 10.4.6 and later. Some users reported that the Mighty Mouse had some issues with right clicking, and often times the single fat button would click both sides of the mouse. It is unclear whether or not this has been addressed.

Update: It’s official. Apple has anounced the Wireless Mighty Mouse, laser guided, one or two AA batteries (you decide) and no Windows support (yet).
